In collaboration with the Selwyn District Council Mel Bourke and I are hosting a mini yoga retreat.
This is a great way to unwind before the silly season and reflect on the year you've had by grounding into yoga philosophy, meditation and movement. Absolutely perfect for yogi beginners or those who wish to understand more about the yoga postures (asana) and the difference and benefits between vinyasa yoga and restorative practices.
On the day Cushla will be guiding you through a flowing yoga practice, taking time to workshop the postures and how they feel in your body. In this session we will go over Ujjayi breath (what is it, why and how?) and Surya Namaskara A and B (Sun valuations A and B) what postures that entails, why we use it in vinyasa yoga and how you can modify or amplify the postures for your body
You will learn meditation practices led by Cushla and how to guide yourself through meditation at home
snacks, nibbles and drinks will be provided for our lunch break
Then Mel Bourke will guid you through yoga philosophy, reflection and journalling on the year that has been 2024 and what you want to set into intention for 2025 and then close with a guided restorative yoga practice and nourishing savasana.
The benefit of this event is it is hosted just out of Christchurch so you feel you can "get away" of the craziness for the day and it is heavily subsidised making it incredibly affordable so you can gift yourself - instead of always gifting others
